{"id":13515,"date":"2020-03-26T16:29:11","date_gmt":"2020-03-26T20:29:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/visitoakville.com\/?p=13515"},"modified":"2020-03-26T16:29:11","modified_gmt":"2020-03-26T20:29:11","slug":"covid-19-business-information","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dev.zarrtech.net\/visitoakville\/2020\/03\/covid-19-business-information\/","title":{"rendered":"COVID-19 BUSINESS INFORMATION"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Reposted from <a href=\"https:\/\/invest.oakville.ca\/covid-recovery.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Invest Oakville<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n<h2>OAKVILLE&#8217;S ECONOMIC TASK FORCE<\/h2>\n<p>Mayor Burton, along with the Economic Development department, Oakville Chamber of Commerce and Oakville Business Improvement Associations have formed an\u00a0<a title=\"Link to Town of Oakville website\" href=\"https:\/\/www.oakville.ca\/townhall\/mnr-20mar21.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Economic Task Force<\/a>. The Task Force will work in collaboration to provide immediate short-term relief measures to the business community, as well as explore options to support Oakville&#8217;s long-term economic recovery.<\/p>\n<h3>Economic Action Plan<\/h3>\n<p>On March 26, 2020, Town Council passed an Economic Action Plan for Oakville. The Plan was developed by the Economic Task Force\u00a0to help address immediate and longer term concerns voiced by the Oakville business community.<\/p>\n<h4>1. Property Tax Assistance<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Tax installments due April 24: Penalty and interest for non-payment, and non-sufficient funds charges for returned payment will be waived until June 30, 2020.<\/li>\n<li>Outstanding property taxes: Penalty and interest will be waived until June 30, 2020.<\/li>\n<li>Pre-authorized payment plans: Property owners may opt-out without penalty from April 1 to June 30, 2020.\u00a0Property owners must contact\u00a0<a title=\"Link to email Oakville Finance\" href=\"mailto:finance@oakville.ca?subject=Pre-authorized%20payment%20opt-out\">finance@oakville.ca<\/a>\u00a0by the 15th of the month to opt-out before payment is set to withdraw.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>2. Parking Fees<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Free parking in municipal lots and on-street parking in commercial districts.<\/li>\n<li>Fees for monthly parking permit holders will be suspended for April 2020 and further suspensions will be assessed on a monthly basis.<\/li>\n<li>Enforcement to continue for safety and accessibility.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>3. Digital Main Street Program<\/h4>\n<p>The Digital\u00a0Main Street Squad\u00a0is a resource for small businesses to help build\u00a0or enhance an online presence, promote products\/services and sell online. This service is free\u00a0for\u00a0Oakville BIA members. For information, contact:\u00a0<a title=\"Link to email Michelle Bali\" href=\"mailto:michelle.bali@oakville.ca?subject=Digital%20Main%20Street%20Program\">Michelle Bali<\/a>\u00a0or\u00a0<a title=\"Link to email Rachel Waller\" href=\"mailto:rachel.waller@oakville.ca?subject=Digital%20Main%20Street%20Program\">Rachel Waller<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h4>4.\u00a0Planning Applications<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Development applications received by March 18, 2020 are currently being processed.<\/li>\n<li>Time sensitive inquires will be handled by Planning staff.<\/li>\n<li>Staff are exploring how new applications can be accepted and processed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>5.\u00a0Building Permits and Inspections<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Building permit applications received by March 18, 2020 are currently being processed.<\/li>\n<li>Staff are reviewing implementation of a modified level of building inspections.<\/li>\n<li>Development charge indexing effective April 1, 2020 will not apply to Part 9 residential building permits deemed complete by March 17th and Part 3 residential\/ICI building permits deemed complete by March 3rd.<\/li>\n<li>Staff are exploring how new applications can be accepted and processed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>6. Signage in Commercial Districts<\/h4>\n<p>Additional A-frame signage on Town boulevards in the commercial districts will be allowed without a permit or fee for the duration of the COVID-19 crisis.<\/p>\n<h4>7.\u00a0Business License Renewal<\/h4>\n<p>Existing business licenses that require renewal will be extended during the COVID-19 crisis.<\/p>\n<h4>8.\u00a0Noise by-law<\/h4>\n<p>New Provincial legislation in response to COVID-19 restricts municipalities from regulating noise made in connection with the delivery of goods.<\/p>\n<h4>9. Information Resources<\/h4>\n<p>Economic Development staff will continue respond to inquires and provide up-to-date information and resources to the business community.\u00a0Staff are available via phone or email to provide information and support.<\/p>\n<h4>10.
