This week, I am in search of life’s two best things in Oakville – bed, and breakfast! Oakville is home to a couple of B&Bs with gorgeous accommodations and a rich history. You don\u2019t need to leave town to escape and have a good time! Try planning a staycation in Oakville and rediscover your cozy getaway.<\/p>\n

Here are a few B&Bs that are taking in reservations:<\/p>\n

Melfort Cottage<\/strong><\/h3>\n

If you are looking for a spot that offers a home-away-from-home feeling, then Melfort should top your list. This three-room accommodation was opened by Heather Donaldson in 2002. You can choose between queen and twin beds. The rooms come with basic amenities such as phone, television, fridge, microwave, coffee & coffee maker, air conditioning, hairdryer and a luggage rack. However, the highlight of her cottage is the breakfast spread and the white-flowering garden.<\/p>\n

Food for thought:<\/strong><\/p>\n

What does the breakfast spread include? Full breakfast will be served in the beautiful dining room or in the glorious back garden (weather permitting). Fresh fruit, homemade granola, special egg dishes, berry pancakes and homemade jams are just some of the breakfast treats Heather prepares lovingly for her guests. No worries if you are gluten-free or vegan, she has meal options for you too. You\u2019ll feel at home in their well-kept garden which has also found a spot in Gardening Life Magazine.<\/p>\n

If you have shopping<\/a> on your mind, a short walk will land you in Downtown Oakville<\/a> which hosts over 400 boutiques and several restaurants.<\/p>\n

Glendella Boutique \u2014 Magnolia Suites Rental<\/a><\/strong><\/h3>\n

I have always loved Oakville and its rich history and this boutique hotel is the perfect place to mix the two. This historic home is a well-known landmark in Bronte village<\/a>, as it was once the Glendella House and Thompson Hotel circa 1850s. This restored heritage home comes with three rooms and bathrooms, modern amenities, a rebuilt original door and great views overlooking the lake marina. They have the Lakeview Suite with a queen bed on the second floor overlooking Lake Ontario. The room comes with amenities such as a personal closet with hanging and pullout drawers, electric fireplace with tiled feature wall, HD TV, antenna and Android movie box, WIFI, pot lighting enhanced with a silver chandelier, tub\/ shower ensuite, towels, toiletries, small wine fridge, and a privacy door code. Then there is the Bronte Suite with the king bed and the Harbour Suite (queen bed) which is a fully renovated attic ensuite with lake and harbour views. Relax, settle in, and enjoy a glass of wine from your private bistro table overlooking the harbour.<\/p>\n

We are absolutely in love with the breakfast nook which features an antique sideboard with a coffee maker. Two marble coffee tables with chairs overlooking the lake, hot piping coffee, a fruit bowl and some delish eggs and bread! You wouldn’t want to leave this place! We also think this could be a great spot for reading books and for some alone time.<\/p>\n

Other attractions:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Enjoy the place for its character, location, people and history. You would be staying in the heart of Bronte Village<\/a>, so you would have easy access to local shopping, dining and nature. The owners could also arrange fishing and pleasure boat tours on request.<\/p>\n

Here are some tips to keep in mind before you book an accommodation:<\/strong><\/p>\n

  1. Get in touch with the owners to book your rooms.<\/li>\n
  2. When you arrive, please wear a mask<\/li>\n
  3. Don’t forget to ask them about payment methods<\/li>\n
  4. Inform them well in advance about dietary restrictions<\/li>\n
  5. Check with them about pets being allowed.<\/li>\n
  6. Ask them all your questions well in advance about sanitization, etc.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
