Oakville, the town by the harbour. I met you just three short months ago as I took on one of the roles as Visit Oakville\u2019s Tourism Ambassadors and I never knew that I would be so in love. Your beautiful harbour, historic architecture, friendly residents and unique businesses all make you special and so hard to say goodbye to.<\/p>\n

I have had so many amazing adventures with you all. From visiting your picturesque parks to chatting with local business owners in the BIA\u2019s to indulging in the city\u2019s culinary cuisines; I have had the time of my life. Before I had this job, my world seemed to be unsettled. I had just graduated from university and was trying to transition into the working world and then the pandemic hit. I was instantly filled with anxiety and wondered what my life would look like in the following months. But then I found Visit Oakville and they offered me a way to use my talents and positively pass time during this unprecedented time.<\/p>\n

And so, as my time has come to an end, I would like to express my gratitude to each and every one of you for allowing me into your charming town to explore, report and share all the amazing things this town has to offer. Thank you for taking the time to read my blogs, liking my snapshot photo essays and watching my takeovers. Thank you for trusting me.<\/em><\/p>\n

Each week, I had the opportunity to report on many activities, events, and places in Oakville that reflected various themes. So, before I go, I thought I would share with you my favourite themes to report on. I believe that these themes are best represented in Oakville and that everyone should explore them when they get a chance to.<\/p>\n

History<\/strong><\/h3>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Oakville has a rich history. It wasn\u2019t until I dove into the town\u2019s historical photo archives that I uncovered how rich it truly is. Comparing photos of historical landmarks in the past to present-day images that I had the pleasure of capturing was astounding. I never expected to learn so much about each site and feel so connected to them. I would encourage everyone, residents and visitors, to explore Oakville\u2019s history<\/a> by visiting the Oakville Museum, Oakville\u2019s First Post Office and the Thomas House at Lakeside Park. Stroll through Downtown Oakville to see some historic buildings in the shopping district.<\/p>\n

Food<\/strong><\/h3>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Oakville\u2019s restaurant scene is second to none. This beautiful city has plenty of restaurants to choose from that will satisfy your culinary dreams. I loved going around to different restaurants and indulging in cuisines from different cultures such as French crepes from The Crepe Kitchen<\/a> in Downtown Oakville<\/a>, Mexican tacos from Por Vida<\/a> in Bronte Village<\/a> and Colombian coffee at Vereda Central Coffee Roasters<\/a>\u00a0in Kerr Village<\/a>. Oakville\u2019s restaurant scene is a foodie lovers paradise.<\/p>\n

Outdoors<\/strong><\/h3>\n

From the clear waters at South Shell Park, hiking at Bronte Creek Provincial Park to the breathtaking views of the harbour at a Lakeside Park, Oakville\u2019s outdoor<\/a> landscape is one-of-a-kind. Even if you a not versed in outdoor activities such as biking, boating or hiking, a simple walk will satisfy your outdoor needs.<\/p>\n

Entertainment<\/strong><\/a><\/h3>\n

Oakville has a wide variety of entertainment activities. From solo activities to group activities, there are plenty of ways to have fun during your free time. Since I am a film lover, watching movies at Film.ca was one of my favourite ways to spend my free time.<\/p>\n

Shopping<\/strong><\/h3>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Oakville is a shopping lovers paradise. There are so many stores to choose from, each with their own unique personality and story. When I explored Oakville\u2019s shopping scene, I discovered that there are unique and exclusive items that you cannot find anywhere else, such as Makers Mojo<\/a> in Downtown Oakville<\/a>, The Kind Matter Company<\/a> in Kerr Village<\/a> and Lakeside Livin\u2019<\/a> in Bronte Village<\/a>.<\/p>\n

I hope that over these past views months that you were able to discover some of the wonderful things that Oakville has to offer along with me. It\u2019s been a great ride. Thanks again.<\/p>\n
