(Oakville, ON) Visit Oakville began Tourism Week in Canada, May 23 – 30, 2021, by unveiling its new brand and website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new logo\u2019s nautical features highlight the importance of the town\u2019s lakeside location in welcoming early visitors, both as a thriving port of entry for merchants and sailors, and as a terminus for the Underground Railroad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The boat and anchor recognize Oakville as a place of adventure that is also grounded in history, while the branches pay tribute to Oakville\u2019s early economy based on lumber and shipbuilding. They also give a nod to Oakville\u2019s green spaces, one of the things residents and visitors love most about the town today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A new brand and website were originally part of Visit Oakville\u2019s 2020 business plan. The organization recognized the need to better communicate Oakville\u2019s unique charm within the Greater Toronto Area, while improving the functionality of visitoakville.com<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But like many things in 2020, plans changed. The project was put on hold as the organization navigated its way through pandemic and what it would mean for the local tourism industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWith vaccination rates increasing and numbers trending in the right direction, we see the light at the end of the tunnel,\u201d said Philippa Durbin, chair of Visit Oakville\u2019s board of directors. \u201cOur goal with the new brand and website is to be in the best possible position to market Oakville as a destination and support our local partners through the next stages of recovery.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Visit Oakville will be kicking off this tourism week celebration with a branded merchandise giveaway to be followed by gift card giveaways featuring $2,000 in gift cards from local tourism businesses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
