For my last week as a Visit Oakville Ambassador, I wanted to embark on a little holiday-themed adventure across our neighbourhoods. I chose to partake in one of my favourite budget-friendly seasonal activities \u2013 admiring all the holiday d\u00e9cor and installations around town!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Every year, I bundle up, grab some baked goods and a hot beverage, and go for a drive around town to find the perfect holiday photo op amongst the twinkling lights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Start your day off in Downtown Oakville<\/a> at Chocolato + Tommy Caf\u00e9<\/a> for a decadent hot chocolate or latte. You can even dress up your hot chocolate with whipped cream, chocolate shavings and grilled marshmallows. Afterwards, head over to Black Forest Pastry for some gingerbread cookies to fuel your day. It took a great deal of self-control to not devour my cookie right away, but I knew it would be best enjoyed at Centennial Square on Navy Street under the massive gingerbread house in the square.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

The installation also features a sled, oversized gifts and a snowman with cutout for you to stick your head into and cosplay as Frosty! My favourite part is the bright red vintage looking mailbox for letters to Santa so you can send your last-minute wish list by priority mail to the North Pole.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

While in Downtown Oakville, make sure to also check out the large, decorated tree outside of the Oakville Galleries in Centennial Square and the gold ribbon tree at Town Square on Lakeshore Rd. E.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Next stop is a local hidden gem that creates a Disney village every Christmas. You can pay a visit to Mickey, Anna, Elsa, Belle, Snow White and the Seven Dwarves, and more beloved characters. As a Disney fan, visiting this home located right on the corner of Sixth Line and Munn\u2019s Avenue<\/a> was a must for me! The house, dubbed Magic on Munn\u2019s during the holiday season, features a naughty and nice list and has donation boxes for visitors to drop-off non-perishables that will be donated to the Kerr Street Mission<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After singing a few songs from Frozen<\/em>, I made my way deeper into Kerr Village to see the holiday tree in Westwood Park. The tree was lit at the neighbourhood\u2019s 27th Annual Holiday Fest a couple of weekends ago and is sure to fill you with holiday joy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

There is a palpable charm in Kerr Village<\/a> during the holiday season, as they have set up holiday signage and flower boxes with seasonal plants and ornaments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The final spot to check out on our Oakville holiday tour is Coronation Park<\/a> near Bronte Village<\/a> for a stroll in the park amongst the trees wrapped in spiraling lights, flashing light tunnels and a stage with characters putting on a concert! Listen for the crashing waves on the shoreline as you walk along the illuminated path for a coastal holiday experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After your long and light-filled day, I recommend heading towards Fisherman\u2019s Wharf to walk along the light-lined boardwalk and then warming up in Plank Restobar<\/a> for a pint, cocktail and\/or an appetizer to cap off a day well spent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
