Enthusiasts will enjoy its vibrant and diverse art scene, boasting galleries, outdoor exhibits, in-person workshops and more. There’s no better time than summer 2023 to take it all in. Here’s how: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Oakville Galleries<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Oakville Galleries<\/a> is a contemporary art museum with two locations, Centennial Square (120 Navy Street) in the heart of Downtown Oakville, and the picturesque Gairloch Gardens (1306 Lakeshore Road East). Admission to the galleries is always free, although donations are welcome. Both sites are open Tuesday to Saturday from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM and closed on Sundays and statutory holidays. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Summer 2023 is a great time to visit the galleries and view three new exhibits. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

TIMOTHY YANICK HUNTER – Collapse and Incompletion<\/a> and JULIA BROWN – American Vernacular<\/a> will be on display at Gairloch Gardens from June 3 to September 2 2023. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

LEISURE – Having Ideas by Handling Materials<\/a> will be on display from June 3 to December 30 2023 at the Centennial Square location. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, the Oakville Galleries will host several programs for kids, adults and families throughout the summer of 2023. These include art classes, camps, workshops, and guided tours of the exhibitions. Learn more.<\/a> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Joshua Creek Heritage Art Centre<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Joshua Creek Heritage Art Centre<\/a>, located at1086 Burnhamthorpe Road East, is a restored barn gallery and 1827 house with a studio nestled on a 12-acre, 20,000-year-old valley. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sybil Rampen founded and opened the centre in 2008 as a hub for art and nature enthusiasts to connect, create, learn and develop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The centre runs art programs<\/a>, educational activities<\/a>, and exhibitions<\/a> throughout the year. The focus is on preserving the heritage and the history of the area’s early settlers and protecting and nurturing the centre’s nature. It also focuses on mindfulness by hosting<\/a> meditation and yoga classes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the summertime, you can visit the Prairie Labyrinth<\/a>, modelled after Chartres Cathedral, a mown path in a world-class meadow. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

At Home in Bronte Project <\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Experience the beauty of Bronte Harbour by taking a seat in one of the stunning hand-painted Muskoka chairs. Since 2017, the At Home in Bronte project<\/a> has brought together local artists, residents, businesses, and community groups to collaboratively design and create these chairs for display in Bronte Heritage Waterfront Park. Grab a cold drink or ice cream from one of the shops nearby<\/a> and relax in one of these comfortable art pieces. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Art in the Park<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Art in the Park Oakville<\/a> will take place at Bronte Heritage Waterfront Park on August 7, 2023<\/a>, from 10 AM to 5 PM. Admission is $5, and children under 12 are free. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

With over 175 artists and artisans from across the country, the event draws in crowds of thousands to the Bronte waterfront.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The festival showcases various mediums, including traditional paintings such as oil, acrylic, and watercolour, as well as glass, ceramics, photography, mixed media, sculptures, and fine jewelry. Visitors can engage with the artists and learn about their creative process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These exhibitions feature various artistic styles, techniques, and mediums, including painting, sculpture, photography, and mixed media. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
