Autumn is a time for transition: Temperatures begin to drop. Leaves start to fall. Days shorten. <\/span><\/p>\n

But change is something to celebrate, and Oakville Galleries<\/a> is making that clear with its two current exhibits, Tamara Henderson\u2019s <\/span>Seasons End: Out of Body <\/span><\/i>and FASTW\u00dcRMS\u2019 <\/span>#Q33R_WTCH_P155<\/span><\/i>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Seasonal shifts are all about change, and Tamara Henderson\u2019s <\/span>Seasons End<\/span><\/i> installation certainly captures this concept. First shown in Scotland last year, the exhibit – now in its final form as <\/span>Seasons End: Out of Body<\/span><\/i> – can currently be seen at Oakville Galleries\u2019 Centennial Square<\/a> location.<\/span><\/p>\n

Focusing on the theme of travel, the exhibit features a collection of humanoid \u201cvoyagers\u201d whose clothing has adapted to each new environment they’ve inhabited. An even more significant change can be found in the exhibit\u2019s largest piece, the Bar of Body<\/em>. Originally a giant \u201cGarden Photographer Scarecrow,\u201d the figure was actually cremated and placed within the \u201cstomach\u201d of the Bar of Body<\/em>, a winged figure supported by a mechanical breathing apparatus. Just as the pieces travel from site to site, they also transition between states of being, making the theme of change an all-encompassing one.<\/p>\n

Over the course of two years, <\/span>Seasons End<\/span><\/i> has truly transformed in every way. Be sure to see its final form at its final\u00a0destination in Oakville.<\/span><\/p>\n

Toronto-based collective FASTW\u00dcRMS\u00a0elevates change to new heights with #Q33R_WTCH_P155<\/em>,\u00a0altering the exhibit\u2019s site and reality itself. Located at Gairlcoh Gardens<\/a> (renamed \u201cWarlok Gardens\u201d within the exhibit), this is an installation that just might\u00a0change the way you see the world around you.<\/p>\n

Featuring sculptures, wall art and mixed media pieces, this display is an eclectic mix of traditional symbols, modern technology and pop culture (including busts of Darth Vader). But what you see before you is only part of the story. Pick up an exhibit guide at the gallery\u2019s front desk and delve into the alternate history of \u201cWarlok Gardens,\u201d the exhibit and our very world.<\/p>\n
